the kris wu situation is so simple yet so complicated… his full album isn’t available in china (only 5/14 songs) so chinese fans used vpns to download the album through itunes US. the significant amount of sales made him chart at #1 in the US (mind you he has a VERY big fanbase in china). ariana then released her single “thank u, next” but was blocked by kris and couldn’t reach #1. a website glitch saying he sold a very big (impossible) amount started the rumour that he was using bots so of course her fans demanding justice was fine except that he is NOT using bots… the fans that bought his album are REAL they EXIST and they dedicated their time and money to support kris so scooter braun tweeting shady tweets and her liking shady tweets is horrible. all that ON HIS BIRTHDAY when he is not responsible one bit

People are so damn racist and sinophobic. The whole situation snowballed from them not only accusing Kris, but other Chinese artists who have topped charts this year including Jackson Wang, Cai Xukun, and Zhang Yixing. The only thing these artists have in common are being Chinese, and so many people jumped out to accuse them of being “dirty” and using illegal tactics to chart because Chinese music is apparently not good enough for US audiences. A lot of the people who came out to attack Kris were also BTS fans, and of course they dragged in “receipts” of how Chinese artists block Bts and American artists from the top charts. However, those same people are so quick to pull our Billboard and iTunes whenever they want to rave about their own faves. They ignore that China has a large population, and even outside of the mainland there are SO many people who listen to this kind of music!

Why is it that Kris and even artists like Yixing get boggled wish accusations of using bots and purchasing fake numbers when they literally promote to the US audience and sell their albums through American companies, as well as having charted multiple times on charts like Billboard who are accounted for by reputable data companies such as Nielsen? It’s simple racism. Fans of kpop can’t say that they want representation and lift their favs up for “paving the way for asian talent” if all they do is rip down artists who “compete” with their favs for being the wrong type of asian. Miss me with that shit. It’s the same type of racism their own favs received for being Korean when they first gained traction with Billboard, yet they don’t seem to care. Furthermore, music fans can’t claim to want diversity in the industry if they find it unacceptable for non-American people to get on the charts.

Ariana’s manager should be ashamed of himself for facilitating such bullshit, then deleting his tweets and acting like Kris fans were spreading rumors. He is the epitome of unprofessionalism.
